I was in the gemstones exhibit at the Smithsonian. I submitted this picture to Accidental Dong. In the Smithsonian with a White-Harp! Ancient TV's showing Viet Nam era new clips at the Smithsonian History Museum Aaaaaand they're off! Our second week of camp got off to a running start! Is there a better classroom to learn about marine science than the one right outside our facility??? We don't think so! Having hands-on fun is the name of the game at the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit. Campers this week got up-close and personal to some local inverts! Are they descendants? #NASA's @jimehull @CToddCannon with Smithsonian's Jim Deutsche @ Public Services event on National Mall. us them Yes, come celebrate with us, the Delaware Mineralogical Society, at our "Sillimanite Day" party. Today, the Legislature of the State of Delaware Officially proclaimed the mineral Sillimanite as our Official State Mineral, due to the DMS campaign. Enjoy! These samples of stone represent what went into the Washington Monument in Washington, D. C. My ancestor supervised it's completion after the "Know Nothings" halted it. It's great to have ties to Washington! Nice fluorites from the Smithsonian. Fluorite is my geological specialty. Some call me "Mr. Fluorite". ;-) On the moon? Oops! Nope, I took this photo at the Smithsonian NHM in D. C. Are they real moon rocks? Hmmm. What do you think? What happened to the Hope Diamond here? To my eyes, it appeared blue. To my point-and-shoot camera, it faded to diswater gray. Even in PhotoShop could I not color correct it? Hmmm. This was me in my ancient past, after I had earned a diploma from Bowman Technical School and worked as a bench jeweler. Title: "Metalsmith" ;-)
