@UWMadison #Wisconsin #USA STOP in #vivisection #stopanimalabuse !!
In the U.S., methods for creating pain in animals are patented. The latest patent frenzies are focused on laser techniques. Other already patented technological procedures involve freezing, sutures, nerve transactions, and chemical irritants. Putting animals in extreme pain is deemed necessary for pharmaceutical companies to test their opiates. Each and every derivative is tested on many animals. Of the thousands of derivatives, very few ever get approved. New opiates are no more effective than older (or natural) ones. Each company strives for their own patents/brands.

OMG!! SO HORRIBLE!! Shame on #Iran and Hamid Fazeli #animalrights
Iran says it launched monkey into space
Iran said on Monday it had launched a live monkey into space, seeking to show off missile systems that have alarmed the West because the technology could potentially be used to deliver a nuclear warhead.
The Defense Ministry announced the launch as world powers sought to agree a date and venue with Iran for resuming talks to resolve a standoff with the West over Tehran's contested nuclear program before it degenerates into a new Middle East war.
Efforts to nail down a new meeting have failed repeatedly and the powers fear Iran is exploiting the diplomatic vacuum to hone the means to produce nuclear weapons.
The Islamic Republic denies seeking weapons capability and says it seeks only electricity from its uranium enrichment so it can export more of its considerable oil wealth.
The powers have proposed new talks in February, a spokesman for the European Union's foreign policy chief said on Monday, hours after Russia urged all concerned to "stop behaving like children" and commit to a meeting.
Iran earlier in the day denied media reports of a major explosion at one of its most sensitive, underground enrichment plants, describing them as Western propaganda designed to influence the nuclear talks.
The Defence Ministry said the space launch of the monkey coincided "with the days of" the Prophet Mohammad's birthday, which was last week, but gave no date, according to a statement carried by the official news agency IRNA.
The launch was "another giant step" in space technology and biological research "which is the monopoly of a few countries", the statement said.
The small grey monkey was pictured strapped into a padded seat and being loaded into the Kavoshgar rocket dubbed "Pishgam" (Pioneer) which state media said reached a height of more than 75 miles.
"This shipment returned safely to Earth with the anticipated speed along with the live organism," Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi told the semi-official Fars news agency. "The launch of Kavoshgar and its retrieval is the first step towards sending humans into space in the next phase."
There was no independent confirmation of the launch.

#animalrights #stopanimalabuse Our bones & joints ache as we trot hard roads all day. Breathing choking, poisonous exhaust fumes. Not harming us, they say.
City traffic sounds frighten us, Yet day to day & against our will, We pull people around on command; Until they change the bill.
Our owners rest in the cool shade, While for you, we stand & wait. We're standing in full sun; As we overheat and nearly faint..
We're have no choice but to defecate, between cars, bikes & buses. We're prodded to keep moving because of the embarrassment it causes.
We're made to do this, It’s within the law.
We've no green pastures to rest in, And the closest grass we see is straw.
See the tiredness in our eyes, Our souls a dark cave.
There is no choice for us but work like this because,
We're nothing but a slave.

#animalrights STOP #HUNTING !! STOP Safari Club International a club of dirty murderers !!
SLEEPING RHINO WOKEN UP BY HUNTERS AND IS SHOT AS IT LAYS ON THE FLOOR!
This poor rhino was sleeping on the ground minding its own business as these cowardly trophy hunters approached him. The rhino woke up and lifted his head slightly but did not get to his feet as he did not feel there was any threat to himself.
When the first bullet hit him he got up and ran away as more bullets continued to be fired at him, he managed to get away but died from his wounds, the rhino was shot five times before he died. All of this was 100% legal and the trophy hunter now has logged the kill in the Safari Club International record books.
Safari Club International is the organisation that all trophy hunters are members of. SCI gives awards for the biggest animals people kill, the most endangered animals people kill and so on. It does not matter how you kill the animal, if it is sleeping, tame, or inside a cage, SCI will still take it as a "hunt". SCI holds holds huge conventions each year where thousands of people come and look at the dead animals and sign up for kiling trips. These conventions attract huge names in country music to peform and George Bush has attended them before (he is a proud SCI member). Even South Africa send government officials to these conventions to drum up business.
We have already reported this year on how a sleeping elephant was woken and shot by a trophy hunter in Zimbabwe for a TV show and also how a sixteen year old girl woke up a hippo and shot it for a hunting DVD.
These pictures are from an extremely sick TV show where the host and his other cowardly friends approach a sleeping elephant, they then make noises so the elephant wakes up and once it rises they open fire. The pathetic excuse of a human who killed the elephant is called Terry Denmon.Follow this link and you can see the video

#animalrights SHAME on #Denmark - 25 dog breeds are now banned.
Over 400,000 dogs are in eminent danger of being euthanized
January 2013 - Denmark has one of the most strict dog breed bans in the world. 12 breeds were already banned and 13 more are lined up, making a total of 25 breeds to be banned in the near future.
The discussion in Denmark went totally out of hand. While reports surfaced that despite the current ban, the number of dog bites have increased and the ban is therefore not working, politicians and media ignored the facts and called for more breeds to be banned. When vets are reluctant to euthanize healthy animals just because they are part of breed, politicians called upon people to practice "do-it-yourself" euthanasia. This message was corrected, yet it shows the sentiment that is present in the country and the horror dogs and dog owners in Denmark are living in.
Shakespeare onces wrote "something is rotten in the state of Denmark". Some hundreds of years later he is proven right. A lot of Danes are against the law and cry out in protest of this outrage. Help the Danes to stop this madness in their country, and let them return to the civilized world once more, states the following petition.

But Thailand is more notorious for its dog meat trade, said a representative of the Public Health Ministry's Disease Control Department. UPDATE:
28th of December, 2012: AstraZeneca denies that they are planning a mass killing and says that they plan to send the dogs to their laboratories in the UK for further painful experiments - a fate that is in fact worse than death!

http://vimeo.com/56466920#
AstraZeneca plc is a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biologics company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is the world's fifth-largest pharmaceutical company measured by 2009 prescription drug sales (after Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi, and GlaxoSmithKline) and has operations in over 100 countries. It has a portfolio of products for major disease areas including cancer, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, infection, neuroscience, respiratory and inflammation.
Astra AB was founded in 1913 in Södertälje, Sweden, by 400 doctors and apothecaries. In 1993 the British chemicals company ICI demerged its pharmaceuticals businesses and its agrochemicals and specialties businesses, to form Zeneca Group plc, and in 1999 Astra and Zeneca Group merged to form AstraZeneca plc.
In 2005 the company announced that it had become a Diamond Member of the Pennsylvania Bio commerce organisation. It also decided to acquire KuDOS Pharmaceuticals, a UK biotech company, for £120m and entered into an anti-cancer collaboration agreement with Astex.
In 2006, following a collaborative relationship begun in 2004, AstraZeneca acquired Cambridge Antibody Technology for £702 million.
In February 2007 AstraZeneca agreed to buy Arrow Therapeutics, a company focused on the discovery and development of anti-viral therapies, for $150 million.
In 2011 AstraZeneca acquired Guangdong BeiKang Pharmaceutical Company, a Chinese generics business.
In February 2012 AstraZeneca and Amgen announced collaboration on treatments for inflammatory diseases. Then in April 2012, AstraZeneca acquired Ardea Biosciences, another biotechnology company, for $1.26 billion.
In February 2012, Swedish newspapers announced that Anglo-Swedish pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca is closing its research facilities in Södertälje, south of Stockholm, as part of a major restructuring, resulting in the loss of around 1,000 Swedish jobs. Over the past two years, the big pharmaceutical giant divested much of its operations in Sweden and this has also affected their laboratory facilities and experimental animal activities.
In June 2012 AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb announced a two-stage deal for the joint acquisition of the biotechnology company Amylin Pharmaceuticals. It was agreed that Bristol-Myers Squibb would acquire Amylin for $5.3 billion in cash and the assumption of $1.7 billion in debt, with AstraZeneca then paying $3.4 billion in cash to Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Amylin being folded into an existing diabetes joint-venture between AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Experiments conducted on animals:
Like every pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca conducts experiments on animals. According to AstraZeneca's own website, in 2011 AstraZeneca has used approximately 398,000 animals, including those used by external contract research organisations on their behalf. Approximately 76% (302,480) were rodents, 22% (87,560) were fish and the remaining 2% (7,960) included chickens, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, primates, pigs, goats and sheep.
In 2010, AstraZeneca "used" 429,000 animals and in 2009, 410,000 animals were "used" for the purpose of testings and experiments.
