#Venezuelans 61% of Venezuelans would vote for Chavez if elections were next Sunday
A study conducted by the pollster company Contexto Investigaciones revealed that the intention to vote in favor of the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez stays at 61% in the hypothetical case that presidential elections were held next Sunday.

Said figure contrasts with the 15% of the people who assured that would vote “for any candidate of the opposition” and 3% saying that they would support “any independent candidate.”

The study also shows that 88% of polled people confirmed their attendance to polling stations if elections were next Sunday.

The survey was conducted by phone. A total of 1,200 people were surveyed in a 12-hours period, between May 15 and May 16, in the 23 states of the country and the Capital District.

Presidential elections in Venezuela are expected to occur by the end of 2012.

Positive image

The survey also showed that 66% of Venezuelans keep a positive image of Chavez, which represents an increase in their perception compared to a similar survey conducted at the beginning of 2010.

“Comparing current result with the one collected on January 18, there is an increase of 8 percent in the positive perception on President"s Administration,” the report reads.

Likewise, 53% of the people considered that the head of State keeps a High (41%) or Very High (12%) popularity, which is an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous survey. Only 13% of the people considered that president Chavez"s popularity is between Low and Very Low.

Emphasis on the social area

The next element asked to people in the phone interviews was related to the areas seen as positive in Chavez"s Administration.

Social area obtained 38% of the votes, followed by military(23%), politics (19%), economy (18%), foreign affairs (17%), all the options (12%), and a 12% chose “none” or did not want to answer.

“Compared to the study conducted on January 18, the trend remains steady; nevertheless, there is a slight increase in the military area (from 20 to 23%) and politics (from 16 to 19%),” the text reads.

51% see themselves as chavists

Regarding their political tendency, 51% of the surveyed people consider themselves chavists and 16% said they were not chavists; 32% assured that they did not belong to any of the two groups and 1% did not want to answer.

#VENEZUELA Un estudio realizado por la encuestadora Contexto Investigaciones reveló que la intención de voto a favor del mandatario venezolano, Hugo Chávez Frías, es de 61%, en el caso hipotético de que los comicios presidenciales fuesen este domingo.

La intención de voto favorable a Chávez, contrasta con un 15% que aseguró que sufragaría en apoyo a “cualquier candidato de la oposición” y 3% que respaldaría a “cualquier candidato independiente”.

El estudio señala que 88% de los consultados confirmó que asistiría a las urnas si las elecciones fuesen este domingo.

La encuesta fue realizada vía telefónica a 1.200 personas en un lapso de 12 horas, entre los días 15 y 16 de mayo de este año, en los 23 estados y el Distrito Capital.

Los comicios por la Primera Magistratura en Venezuela se tienen previstos para finales del próximo año.

Imagen positiva

El sondeo de la encuestadora arrojó además que 66% de los venezolanos tienen una imagen positiva de Chávez, lo que representa un incremento de esa percepción con respecto a una encuesta similar realizada en enero de este año.

“Contrastando este resultado con el obtenido el 18 de enero, se percibe un ascenso de ocho puntos porcentuales en la valoración positiva sobre la gestión del presidente (de 58% a 66%)”, dice textualmente el análisis sobre la investigación.

De igual forma, 53% de los encuestados consideró que el mandatario tiene una popularidad entre Alta (41%) y Muy Alta (12%), porcentajes en el cual se evidencia el aumento de nueve puntos porcentuales respecto al anterior sondeo.

Sólo 13% estimó que la popularidad del Presidente está entre las categorías Baja y Muy Baja, 2% se abstuvo de opinar.

Énfasis en el área social

Otro de los puntos consultados en las entrevistas telefónicas fueron las áreas en las que se califica de manera positiva la gestión del presidente Chávez.

El 38% de las respuestas apuntaron hacia el área social, 23% a la militar, 19% hacia la política, 18% a la económica, 17% a la internacional y 12% a todas las anteriores. Un porcentaje de 12% señaló que “ninguna” o no contestó.

“En comparación con el estudio anterior (18 de enero) la tendencia se mantiene; no obstante, se aprecia un leve incremento de tres puntos porcentuales en el área militar (de 20% a 23%) y el área política (de 16% a 19%)”, señala el estudio.

51% se considera chavista

Al ser consultados sobre su tendencia política, 51% de los entrevistados se consideraron Chavistas, frente a un 16% que se identificó como No Chavista.

32% afirmó que no pertenecía a ninguna de las dos posiciones anteriores (Ni-Ni); 1% no respondió.
