'SAVE THE SOIL campaign' : We launched 'SAVE THE SOIL' campaign with a focus on rejuvenating and replenishing the degrading health of the Indian soil, this project was started in just 15 villages of Bighapur block, Distt. Unnao, Uttar Pradesh today covers 122 villages in that area. The main thrust of the project is to tell the farmers and help them to feed the earth what it actually requires , this dosent necessarily entails applying chemical fertilisers but instead is a mix of indigenous and modern methods to fertilise the soil. Thrust is on techniques like soil testing, vermi-composting, green manuring, using biofertilisers, crop rotation amongst others and the results of this project have surprised us because the farmers who used the techniques suggested by IFFCO have witnessed an average 25% increase in their yield on the same patch of land and in some cases the increase has been over 200% in yield. The farmers gets all the benefits in terms of correct fertilisation of the soil which ensures that the soil stays healthy for years to come and they also witness an increase in yield so more income. So simply the input cost have reduced and output cost increased without sacrificing the soil health or the environment health. Everything from collecting the soil samples, soil testing and techniques suggestion and application is done for free thru our field officers who help the farmers in every step.
