The Young New Yorkers for the Philharmonic hosted their Winter Benefit on Tuesday, December 6. This fun, sold out event included a performance by Philharmonic musicians Michelle Kim and Joo Young Oh at dinner, followed by dancing at Doubles Club. Take a look at the photo album for some photos. The next gala is planned for February 23, 2012, so mark your calendars! To learn more on how to attend, and about The Young New Yorkers program, please visit: http://nyphil.org/support/yny.cfm

CONTACT! isn’t just about music—it’s also about mingling with new people and having a good time. There will be a post-concert reception after each concert, where you can chat with fellow concertgoers and enjoy a few beers. The beer is lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery! Check out the picture from last year’s CONTACT! reception.

A Tour de Force
This February Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic take off for the Europe / Winter 2012 tour of Europe's musical capitals — from Cologne, Frankfurt, and Düsseldorf to Luxembourg, Paris, Amsterdam, and London. The Orchestra will perform works spanning the 19th–21st centuries — featuring violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, pianist Lang Lang, and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato — and will kick off its inaugural International Associates residency at London's Barbican Centre, which will include the U.K. Premiere of Thomas Adès’s Polaris.
Come fly with us.

Meet Jake, the New York Philharmonic's mascot! He’s 15 years old — that's 105 in dog years — and already a media star. He has been lionized in two children’s books, visited by ABC News, and is beloved by all members of the New York Philharmonic, who perform onstage just a stone’s throw from his hangout. He’s a terrier mix who has come to work with his owner Richie — an Avery Fisher Hall stagehand — for all of his 15 years. (He even has his own Lincoln Center ID card!) Young readers were first introduced to him in Karen LeFrak’s book, Jake the Philharmonic Dog in 2006, and later, in Jake the Ballet Dog.
It's a (Philharmonic) dog's life for Jake, and the fame has not gone to his head. He would much rather have a good bone.
