This ad for return voyages from New York aboard the Titanic and its sister ship, the Olympic, ran in the Pioneer Press on April 15, 1912 -- the date the Titanic sank. We reprinted it in the Pioneer Press today, Saturday, April 14, 2012, to illustrate my interview with the Minnesota archivist who wrote an article about the local papers' coverage of the Titanic.

To illustrate this photo, I asked HRH Ashleigh Hayes (the newly crowned 2012 Queen of the Snows of the St. Paul Winter Carnival AND an engineering student at St. Thomas) to write down a math equation into my notebook. All hail the St. Paul subject who can identify what HRH wrote!

The St. Paul Winter Carnival's 2012 Queen of the Snows, Ashleigh Hayes, is also a math queen! The University of St. Thomas senior is an electrical engineering major and volunteers as a math tutor at a girls' school. Read my interview with her later on or in the Sunday edition of the Pioneer Press.
