We’re rethinking waste. And it’ll have you seeing park benches (and Adirondack chairs, Frisbees and playgrounds) in a whole new way. Just last year, cleanrooms and laboratories participating in RightCycle by Kimberly-Clark Professional sent in more than 50,000 pounds of previously hard-to-recycle products, like garments and gloves, to be turned into useful, eco-friendly consumer products.

Back in 1957, “King of Hearts” Perry Como and New York Heart Fund poster child Ann Marie Christie threw the switch to light the Little Lulu Kleenex tissue advertising sign above Times Square. Little Lulu, a popular cartoon figure in the Saturday Evening Post magazine, joined forces with Kleenex in 1944 to explain the tissue shortage during the war. #ThrowbackThursday Happy Valentine’s Day!

In the 1920s, even the mention of menstruation was taboo – many mothers avoided discussing it with their daughters – and selling Kotex feminine pads (our first consumer product) was a challenge. Medical images, like this reassuring nurse, and extensive consumer education helped change the attitudes and buying habits of generations of women. #ThrowbackThursday

“The difficult we do immediately and the impossible takes a bit longer.” That’s the approach our early Photographic team took in using photography and motion analysis to speed product development and troubleshoot manufacturing processes. Today, the team still uses analytical imaging services and even virtual reality to innovate. Happy 65th anniversary, Photographic team! #ThrowbackThursday

On Oct. 22, 1872, a schoolgirl passing by the Globe Mill in Neenah, Wisconsin, purchased a small stack of wrapping paper from John A. Kimberly. She paid with a “shinplaster,” paper currency worth 15 cents, marking Kimberly-Clark’s first sale and the beginning of our 140-year history of products that are an indispensable part of life for people around the world.
