Applied the EFI update to the Mac mini. Thunderbolt speeds via target disk mode have doubled since the update.

Apple updated the Air's firmware to address Thunderbolt performance. Unfortunately target disk mode is still slow:

Just for the lulz, I tried out a disk speed test through 802.11N. Thunderbolt is at least 5X faster than Wi-Fi:

Here's how Firewire 800 did (Mac mini with a HDD). Looks like Thunderbolt isn't much faster after all...

I discovered one thing about Thunderbolt. It's transfer speed from my MacBook Air to my Mini is pathetic!
