#IVLP participants check out Foxhollow Farm, a female-owned organic farm outside Louisville, Kentucky. This city is also known for its “hot brown” sandwiches and is rumored to be the first place that cheese was put onto a hamburger. If you are feeling like a vacation in May, you might want to come to this city to see one of the most famous horse races in all of America.

"Empower!" Fikre Engida said as Alradi Abdalla of #Sudan, who is blind, took the helm of their ship in Eugene, Oregon. This #IVLP group from Africa just finished their trip to Portland where they saw how Americans create a dignified and inclusive world for those with disabilities. Alradi, who is an attorney, beamed from the captian's seat saying he forgot about his disabilities as he sailed down the Columbia River. The group’s next stop is Denver, which unfortunately Alradi cannot sail the group to! (With )

While in Jacksonville, Florida on a journalism #IVLP, Mohamed Asif of the Maldives had the chance to jump in and provide an international perspective. Asif, who is a television reporter back home, was shadowing WJXT-TV as they reported from near Fernandina Beach after Cyclone Andrea. Asif did a live broadcast for the noon broadcast where he assessed the damage and cleanup efforts. Another great example of participants sharing their experience with a local U.S. audience.

The 85 participants in the Women in Action #IVLP came back together in New York, and now DC, to explore together how to “unleash the power of everyone, not just some,” following visits to 15 separate cities in smaller groups. They had an all-star panel today that included White House and State Department officials, as well as private sector partners from Vital Voices and Running Start. We look forward to seeing great things from them!

Fouad Lilabadi, Secretary General of the American Football Federation in Austria, knew he would be in New Orleans to see the management of the United States’ biggest sports event, the Superbowl, but until he arrived he never expected to see the actual game. Through a meeting on his #IVLP, he was offered a ticket to the event about an hour before it started and ended up in attendance. Special thanks to New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council for providing home hospitality during his stay.
