Cesar in Oakland has changed its concept and now offers an enticing version of posole.

Had Meyer Lemon Meringue pie in St. Helena, but it should really be called Pure Cane Sugar pie. Soooo sweet.

Loved the chawan mushi at Ame with lobster, clams and eel.

Beautiful night to dine at Greens. Capped the evening with a rich honey almond tart with Meyer lemon ice cream.

It's almost as good as fried chicken: buttermilk fried quail with bacon and Brussels sprouts at Terra in St. Helena.

Great meal at Bottega. Michael Chirarello was working the line, and the room. Love the pecorino pudding.

So many places are offering inferior burrata these days I almost forgot what it was like when it's fresh, sweet and creamy.

Dined in the East Bay three nights in a row. Winning dish at Marzano on Park: meatballs with tomato and braising greens.

The chef at Gather calls cardoon "artichokes big brother" and under rated. I agree, but anything tastes good fried.

If you haven't been to Redd in Yountville In a while, it 's time to correct the oversight. The food is better than ever.

Picked 150 Meyers from our tree; more than that remaining. Lots of preserved lemons in my future.

I love a classic Cobb salad like the one they serve at PlumpJack in Squaw Valley.

Rosso's pizza in Santa Rosa still tops the chart.

It's on the menu at Chow year round, but the warm ginger cake with caramel and pumpkin ice cream feels like Christmas.

Who needs chestnuts roasting on an open fire when you can have carrots roasted in hay at Coi?

Strolling Larkin, checking out the Asian restaurants. Winning number is 62: crispy stir-fried pork belly at Lers Ros Thai.

Fried chicken alert: Dooky Chase's New Orleans fried chicken was perfect 27 years ago on my last visit. Today it's better than I remember.
