Ground was broken today for the new home of space shuttle Atlantis at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, a $100 million exhibit slated to open summer 2013. A rendering of the exterior of the Atlantis exhibit was revealed in the background as Bill Moore, COO of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex; Janet Petro, Deputy Director, John F. Kennedy Space Center; The Honorable Jennifer Carroll, Lieutenant Governor of the State of Florida; Jeremy Jacobs, Chairman and CEO, Delaware North Companies; and Chris Ferguson, Commander of STS-135, Atlantis, broke ground.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex broke ground today on the new home for the space shuttle Atlantis, a $100 million exhibit slated to open summer 2013. Chris Ferguson, Commander of the last shuttle mission, STS-135, Atlantis, shared his enthusiasm for his ship's new home. He thanked Delaware North for telling the story of the Space Shuttle Program while those in the industrial sector continue to explore new methods of space flight.
