Most of the land is below sea level, due to the intense pressure of the ice covering it. Most of the mass seen is ice over land, only the sections covered by the US overlay of TX and partly by MT are ice shelves.

@cpnz the rate of ice melting is pretty darned fast actually. The shelves alone cover areas the size of small to medium states, and the ice over land is (on average - some years it does thicken again a tiny bit) getting thinner by the year.
