RYDER  CUP

We are off and running for the 2014 Ryder Cup Gleneagles Golf Course.
Behind the football World Cup, the Ryder Cup is the second most watched sporting event around the world.
This will be the 40th Ryder Cup of which team Europe, defending champions, have won five out of the of the last six competitions.
Dubliner Paul McGinley, Europe’s non-playing captain has top players like World number one Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter and Martin Kaymer in his 12 man team.
His counterpart, American captain Tom Watson will be relying on the in-form Ricky Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar and Co to deliver over the weekend. Europe are rightly priced as the odds-on favourites with the Americans priced at around 9/5 with the draw at around 10/1.
Punters looking at placing a bet should probably stick with the top points scorer for each team, taking into consideration that most players will not play too often during the three day event.
One thing is for sure, Rory McIlroy will play in all of the five games for Europe.
At 9/2, punters should be running to the betting window for an investment on world number one Rory McIlroy.
For the American team Ricky Fowler and Phil Mickleson are others who will probably feature in all matches.
Young Ricky is priced at 6/1 to be top American and is worth a punt while with left-hander Phil quote at 13/2 in places.
I would be shocked if come Sunday, Irishman Paul McGinley would not be holding the Ryder Cup trophy aloft. Most of his team are in great form at the minute apart from Lee Westwood and home advantage counts. For the Americans, they are without the unavailable Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson and they will sorely be missed at the weekend.
