An active weather pattern will take shape across much of eastern Colorado through the holiday weekend, as a large upper level storm system moves slowly across the desert southwest. Due to the slow movement of the thunderstorms expected over the next few days, locally heavy rain will be possible, with an increased threat for flash flooding expected over the burn scars. Persons planning activities in the vicinity of the burn scar drainage basins through the weekend, should remain weather alert and be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary. Area temperatures will remain around average on Friday, as highs warm into the 70s to low 80s across the eastern plains and 50s to low 70s over the high country.
