High pressure will weaken over the state today, as a spring storm system begins moving into Colorado tonight, before dragging a cold front through the region Sunday afternoon. Ahead of this system, warm and breezy to windy conditions was expected, with an increased fire danger developing over the southeast plains this afternoon and evening. Highs will top out in the 70s to mid 80s across the eastern plains and 50s and 60s over the high country. The chances for precipitation will increase over the central mountains tonight, as the low begins moving across the state, then spreading across the remainder of the region behind the cold front Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. Some significant snow accumulations will be possible over the mountains and Palmer Divide with this system, with light accumulations possible Sunday ! night, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces, elsewhere along the interstate 25 corridor. Persons planning travel through the mountains and across the Palmer Divide, should remain weather alert and be prepared for adverse travel conditions.
