Windy and unseasonably cold weather is in store for southern Colorado over the next few days. It seems just as we're trying to step forward into spring, we've fallen a few steps backward into winter. Typical for Colorado in April. Tuesday will be windy and cold across most of southern Colorado. There will be a mix of rain and snow showers Tuesday afternoon, although this will be more likely in the mountains than on the plains. Local snowfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches will be possible in the mountains Tuesday with little or no snow accumulation expected across the lower elevations. If you already have tender spring plants that are out on their own, you probably should protect them from the cold for the next few nights.
