Top Congress leaders uneducated: Subramanian Swamy

VARANASI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday claimed that all top leaders of Congress were 'uneducated' and possessed 'fake educational certificates'.

Without taking the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said, "Unke sabse bade neta panchvi pass hai, unke pas university ki jhoothi degree hai, (The topmost Congress leader has only studied till Class V and has a fake degree)."

"The second-in-command, who is also the son of the top leader, did not show his certificate," he told a meeting of intellectuals and claimed that no member of Nehru family had cleared the college examination.

Accusing the Congress of not giving due respect to the highly educated and brilliant leader BR Ambedkar, Swamy said, "They (Congress leaders) just called him Bhim Rao while less qualified Nehru was called 'Panditji'."

He further said that the NDA regime recorded a GDA of 8.4%, which came down to 4.8% in UPA rule. He further claimed that the NDA provided 120 lakh jobs annually during its rule while UPA provided only 20 lakh employment in seven years.

"No Congressman speaks a word on these facts of the Planning Commission," he said and added that in 40 years from 1951 to 1997, subsequent Congress governments at the Centre constructed 260km of National Highway per year while 4,470km of national highways were constructed annually during the six-year-rule of the NDA. In the last eight years, the UPA government constructed 1,400km road per year, he added.

Accusing Jawaharlal Nehru of destroying agriculture in the country, he said that after independence Nehru imitated the farming of Soviet Russia that proved fatal to Indian agriculture.

"In last 10 years, Gujarat has recorded a growth of 10% in agriculture sector, which is the highest in the country," he said and alleged that the UPA government did nothing for the promotion of farming in the country.

He said that Narendra Modi like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel would build the nation and put it on the path of development.

"The country has only one Modi, and he is with BJP," he said.
