High pressure will move east of Colorado tonight, as our next low pressure system approaches the state from the west. This low will bring an extended period of somewhat unsettled weather to the region, with periods of cloudiness, breezy to windy conditions and a chance for precipitation developing across portions of eastern Colorado through the first half of next week. The best chances for precipitation through this period is expected Saturday into Saturday night over the high country, before spreading across the remainder of eastern Colorado on Sunday. Strong gusty winds and snow will be possible across the mountains and possibly over the Palmer Divide with this system on Sunday, possibly impacting travel across the mountain passes and over Monument Hill and Interstate 25. Isolated to widely scattered showers were then expected into mid week as the low moves very slowly across the central plains states, sending weak upper level impulses on the back side of the low ! southward across Colorado. With gusty winds and lack of moisture expected over the eastern plains on Saturday, the fire danger will increase once again during the afternoon hours. For the latest information on this Red Flag Warning, please visit our web page at weather.gov/pub. Area temperatures will remain above average on Saturday, as highs warm into the 70s to mid 80s across the eastern plains, and into the 50s and 60s over the high country. A return of Cooler weather was then expected to start off the new week. (Please visit http://weather.gov/pub for more information.)
