High pressure will weaken over the state tonight, as our next low pressure system approaches Colorado from the northwest. Gusty winds will develop across the region ahead of this system on Tuesday, helping temperatures climb well above average over most areas, as highs top out in the 70s across the eastern plains and 50s and 60s over the high country. A cold front will push through the state during the evening hours, with gusty winds continuing over eastern Colorado behind the front. A limited supply of moisture will spread over the region behind this front, with a chance for precipitation developing in and near the mountains. Most of the southeast plains should remain dry with this system, with mainly just areas of blowing dust. Due to the dry weather and gusty winds expected on Monday, fire danger will be very high, and a red flag warning has been issued for the entire southeast plains from 11 AM until 8 PM.
