On this day in Weather History... In 1981, a snow storm began in the early morning hours and dropped over a foot of snow in Goodland. Most of the snow came in an 11 hour period of near white out conditions. Temperatures in the mid teens came with the heavy snow?but winds remained very light. Goodland reported the most snow from the storm, with most other areas between 3 and 6 inches. The storm was very local in nature, as most of eastern Colorado saw little or snow accumulation. In 1987, A strong storm system moving out of the Central Rockies spread snow across much of the central United States. A winds gust of 64 miles per hour was measured at Goodland Kansas.
