Severe weather is expected today as an intensifying low pressure system and associated cold front moves into the region and interact with a warm, moist and unstable airmass over the Ohio Valley. Scattered thunderstorms may develop as early as late morning and early afternoon over the region. These storms could quickly become severe, with the potential to produce tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall. Then a line of thunderstorms is expected to develop along the cold front and move rapidly through central Indiana during the late afternoon and early evening. These storms will be capable of damaging winds, possibly in excess of 70 mph, along with tornadoes. The risk for severe storms will come to an end with the passage of this line this evening as the cold front moves east of the area. Wind gusts to 45 mph will be possible outside of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, and a Wind Advisory has been issued from Noon to 9 PM.
