It is with tremendous sorrow that the Gallatin Police Department reports the passing of Police Officer Kevin Thomas. Officer Thomas died last night, July 25, 2013 at age 34, following a brave battle against a malignant brain tumor. Officer Thomas began his career in law enforcement in March 1998 working in the jail at the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department. He transferred to the Hendersonville Police Department where he attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2000. In 2003, Officer Thomas returned to the SCSO where he worked as a School Resource Officer at Westmoreland and Station Camp High Schools. In May of 2010, Officer Thomas came to the Gallatin Police Department where he worked as a bike officer and was a member of the SWAT team.

Officer Thomas was a great husband, father and friend. He was a hard working police officer, well liked and respected by his peers and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. We extend our hearts and love to his family at this difficult time and thank all those in the community that have been supportive of Kevin and his family during the past year of this battle.
