Deep monsoonal moisture remains over the region today underneath a ridge of high pressure, similar to the previous few days. This will allow for numerous storms to form this afternoon with some lasting well into the evening and overnight. Isolated storms may linger through the early morning hours. Locally heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds is possible with passing storms. Debris mud flows may occur, especially in the San Juan mountains. Drier air may lower the threat of thunderstorms late this weekend, even though storms will still be possible. (Please visit http://weather.gov/gjt for more information.)
