#Nature Awareness 7/9/2013 - Roadrunner. I can't help but think of Wile E. Coyote... The roadrunner is a fast-running bird that has a long tail and a crest. It is found in southwestern United States and Mexico where it is also called a chaparral bird and/or a chaparral cock. Roadrunners are ground cuckoos and include about fifteen species of birds from the subfamily Neomorphinae of the Cuckoo Family (Cuculidae). Roadrunners are in the genus Geococcyx. Two species of roadrunners are the Greater Roadrunner and the Lesser Roadrunner. The Greater Roadrunner inhabits Mexico and the southwestern United States. The Lesser Roadrunner inhabits Mexico and Central America. Symbolism: speed, mental agility, adeptness, focus, planning.
