A handful of citizens spoke out Monday against Xcel Energy's request for $111 million in higher natural gas rates.
"I think it's outrageous," said Deborah Quintana Hegtvedt of Arvada. "This is definitely going to hurt the low-income and the middle-income. Xcel is asking time and time again for rate increases. It's time for the public to stand up and say enough is enough."
Hegtvedt and others spoke at a public-comment hearing at the offices of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
