Frederick Douglass "Fritz" Pollard was the first African-American head coach AND many suggest first Quarter Back to play in the #NFL. He coached the Akron (OH) Pros of the American Professional Football Association, which would form the basis of the NFL. He is a member of the (US) Professional Football Hall of Fame.
