In 1951, Bernie Custis became the first African-American QB in North American since the 1920s. He was the first African-American Pro QB in the #CFL, playing for the Hamilton #TigerCats. Due to a new head coach (more likely racism), Custis was moved from QB to RB, where he continued to excel. After football, Custis became an educator and a highly successful Junior, College and University Coach. In 1988, he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
