On this day in Weather History... In 1984, Goodland was struck by a snow storm that brought 5 inches of snow. Northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to near 50 mph accompanied the snowfall. This was the first of two blizzards to strike Goodland in a three day period. In 1993, a winter storm piled 6 to 8 inches of snow across northwest Kansas closing schools and Interstate 70. Strong winds caused blowing and drifting snow and very low visibility along with winds chills of 30 to 40 degrees below zero.
