In 1951 Rollie Miles became the first African-American to play for the Edmonton #Eskmos.  He had come to Canada to play baseball for the Regina Caps, but was convinced by Annis Stukus to play for Edmonton.  

Miles along with Parker and Kwong formed the nucleus of the Eskimo Grey Cup Dynasty.
