A strong area of low pressure will track from southern Nebraska to southern Minnesota today. This storm system will push a pair of fronts through the region through tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will persist in advance of a warm front today. The rain should end from west to east from late morning to mid afternoon from central Missouri to southern Illinois. After the rain ends, a south to southwest wind will increase and gust over 30 mph this afternoon. A wind advisory is in effect this afternoon for parts of central and northeast Missouri where gusts near 45 mph are possible.   (Please visit http://weather.gov/lsx for more information.)
