Today, I solemnly honor the struggles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his family. Civil rights, women's rights, gay rights and HUMAN rights have all taken huge steps forward because of the many battles that were fought over the past few decades. My parents' stories, my grandparents' stories and my story are living proof that no matter where you come from or the color of your skin, if you have a heart filled with determination, a mind ready to learn, ears ready to listen, a thick skin, open arms, and hands that exude peace and cooperation, you can achieve the change no one thought was possible and live a life of purpose. #MLK #MLKDay #MartinLutherKingJr #Inauguration
