***Significant Winter Storm this evening through Saturday, see www.weather.gov/gjt for the latest on the warnings and advisories in effect*** A strong low pressure system approaching from the west, will cause southwest winds to strengthen today, which should scour out the cold air trapped in many snow covered valleys. Snow will begin falling on southwest facing slopes later this afternoon, becoming widespread tonight and Friday, as the systems cold front moves through. Gusty winds over the mountains will cause periodic whiteout conditions. Snow will linger over the mountains on Saturday, before ending Saturday night. Very cold air will follow the system, with well below normal temperatures this weekend and early next week. (Please visit http://weather.gov/gjt for more information.)
