#Nature Awareness 1/1/2013 - Lion. The Egyptians saw the the lion as a symbol of power, wealth, and solar energy. Today, the roar of the lion is often associated with fearlessness. It is fair to say that the lion has captured the human imagination for many centuries as a symbol of power and majesty. It's colorings and propensity for living in sunlit places often gives it the reputation for being associated with the sun, even though it is often a nocturnal predator. Carved statues of lions are commonly found guarding palaces, bridges, temples and tombs. The lion's strength and courage have made it a symbol of power as well as grandeur. Symbolism: self-control, strength, courage, balance, pride, conservation of energy, friendship, solar energies, family, vitality.
