The NYC food workers strike and the labor movement’s new strength


In the aftermath of Occupy Wall Street and its emphasis on inequality and racism, labor movements appear to have found firmer ground in deploying class-based politics emphasizing worker rights and fair treatment. This year has been remarkable for increases in union activity and work stoppages, including the Chicago Teachers Union strike in July and walkouts at Walmart stores leading up a wave of protests on Black Friday.
