Orvis Helios 8-Weight Fly Rod Tip-Flex, 4-Piece, 9' (2.74m) - FlyMasters TradeUp

The Helios Big Game series of rods includes the top-of-the-line Orvis fly rods with saltwater handles and fighting butts. Orvis says about these rods, “…so sublimely light, incredibly responsive, deadly accurate, and just plain easy and enjoyable to cast….” These rods are “…incredibly responsive and deadly accurate….” They are made for saltwater use, but can be used anywhere that large, strong fish hang out.
These Helios rods are the strongest rods in the market place. The blank is a translucent olive color. The cork is of the highest grade.
This rod is rated as a “Tip-Flex 9.5”. This means that this rod is best when you have a quick, short casting stroke. The tip is light for a “light in the hand” feel. Using a tip-flex rod gives the caster greater line speed. The tip-flex rods have a very strong butt section for fish-fighting backbone.
This Orvis Helios 8-weight would be an excellent rod to use for steelhead, large bass, bonefish, snook or baby tarpon.
