Metting Tom Staggs, the current Chairman of Disney Parks & Resorts the other day reminded me of when I met the previous Chairman, Jay Rasulo in 2009, and how it made things come full circle for me in regards to New Fantasyland.

Sidney & I were hanging out at MK on June 9, 2009 & I noticed Meg Crofton, Phil Holmes & a bunch of higher-ups walking around MK. I immediately noticed the then Chairman of Disney Parks Jay Rasulo was with them, so I took the chance to introduce myself and ask for a quick picture with him and Meg. Also in attendance in the group of executives was Al Weiss, former President of WDW and at the time I saw him, President of Worldwide Operations for Disney Parks and Resorts. As Sidney and I walked away I couldn't stop thinking why so many top level executives were walking around MK. Was something big happening soon?

Fast forward 3 months later to the inagural D23 Expo in Anaheim as Jay Rasulo announces the development of New Fantasyland, the largest expansion in MK history. It dawned on me, THAT's why all those executives were at MK!

Fast forward again 3 years and I'm talking to Tom Staggs inside a near completed New Fantasyland. Walking through the Mermaid queue afterwards it hit me how these two chance encounters have now book-ended my personal journey with New Fantasyland, and how fast 3 years can really fly when you're looking forward to great things.
