On Oct. 22, 1872, a schoolgirl passing by the Globe Mill in Neenah, Wisconsin, purchased a small stack of wrapping paper from John A. Kimberly. She paid with a “shinplaster,” paper currency worth 15 cents, marking Kimberly-Clark’s first sale and the beginning of our 140-year history of products that are an indispensable part of life for people around the world.
