30 years ago today, on 20 July 1982, I went on my first solar eclipse 'expedition' - to a little hill south of Bonn, Germany, but that added elevation was crucial: it lifted me a tiny bit above a dense haze layer so I could spot a few minutes of early partiality while folks down in Bonn saw nothing at all. Here's my report, published in Telescopium Vol. 10, 46 (4/1982), with drawings made from color slides.
