Virgin Wealthcare.The tory/lib-dem government has recently passed the health and social care bill which will allow private companies to buy sections of the NHS service and run them as profit motivated businesses.

Since the bill was passed Virgin have won £1billion worth of contracts to provide services for the NHS. This includes a £500 million deal to provide community services across the surrey area, in which they also run the prison healthcare services. They also now run the sexual health services in Milton Keyes, the dermatology service on the Isle of Wight and alongside SERCO are now on the shortlist to take over the running of children’s services in Devon.

Virgin and its sub-companies have been found to be dodging millions of pounds worth of taxes in the UK and Switzerland by exploiting loop holes in European law. Is this the kind of company we want running our health service?
