After seeing that children in impoverished northern Thailand were quitting school to support their families, Plan Thailand started the Bannatoe Learning Centre Development Project in 2008.The programme helps children stay in school by allowing them to study and work simultaneously without travelling outside their community.

A large number of children and youths from there poor families do not have access to education. Many students drop out to start work aged around 15 years old. Historically, these children are most vulnerable to abuse and human rights/child rights violations.

The Bannatoe project a special vocational certificate-level programme aimed at getting marginalized youths to continue and complete their studies. The project is characterised by comprehensive curriculum meant to equip children with vocational and life skills, like farming.
