Singer Rain, who is serving his mandatory military service, was appointed promotional ambassador by the Military Manpower Administration on Tuesday.

An MMA official said, "We hope that his exemplary military service will contribute to encouraging young men to fulfill their own military duty."

Rain served as an assistant instructor at boot camp after enlisting in the Army in October last year, but in March the private first class was transferred to the promotional post.

Rain will engage in PR activities and attend recruitment festivals for a year.
