Visitors from around the world pass under the infamous “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Sets You Free) sign over the main gate at the former Nazi death camp of Auschwitz, in Poland. The former death camp and labour complex, built by Nazi Germany in occupied southern Poland during WWII, was visited by more than 1.4 million people in 2011. H/t: Press Association.
