One of the most endearing moments for me in Sapa.. Luis was sleeping one afternoon, so I took off and wandered the streets of small town Sapa.. This little girl, May Phu, initially tried to sell me a bracelet, which I politely declined.. She then took me around town, and we got along so well, we hung out all afternoon.. We chatted about her family, community.. and she gave me advice on what the REAL local prices are!

When I asked her what she did on a daily basis, she answered: in her time off school, she helps her mom in the rice fields in her village, then makes her way out to town to sell souvenirs to tourists.. This little girl is 12!!

Then I asked her what she did for fun, and her answer couldn't be more adorable!.. She simply said "My friends and I hold hands and walk around town chatting".. Awwwwwwww :)

She came back to see me in front of the hotel every day 'til I left Sapa.. On the morning I left, I gave her my japanese anime umbrella because she liked it so much.. she gave me a peck on the cheek and I hopped on the bus, wishing I could take her with me..
