Lanvin: “This collection is about fabric, technology and volume,” Alber Elbaz said at the start of his prefall presentation earlier today.

Citing innovations in fabric — first, with the incorporation of metals into knits and wovens, and now with things that have been bonded, plastified and waxed — as his muse, Elbaz went on to show a collection full of texture (felted wool and fox), shine (sequins and coated cotton so glossy it looks wet) and stunning proportions (fly-away jackets and exaggerated, egg-shaped shoulders).
