San Bernardino, CA: Suspect Surrenders to Police in Soldier's Shooting.


San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department arrested on Monday 19 year old Ruben Ray Jurado in the shooting and critically wounding of 22 year old Army Specialist Christopher Sullivan at a welcome home last Friday.

Ruben Ray Jurado turned himself in to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputies at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department - Chino Hills Station at around 2pm PT on Monday and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder.


Army Specialist Christopher Sullivan was at his welcome home party on the 2800 block of North Garner Avenue when Sullivan tried to break up an argument over a football game that involved Sullivan’s brother and Jurado. Jurado allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Sullivan in the neck and buttocks.

Sullivan’s mother, Suzanne Sullivan told the Los Angeles Times that doctors believe her son will be paralyzed from the neck down.


Sullivan was wounded in a suicide bombing attack in December 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan which killed five members of his unit. Sullivan was awarded the Purple Heart after the incident.


Jurado is expected to be charged with attempted murder this week by the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office.
