Christmas treats for your pets

The Festive Season is a busy time for most people with lots of shopping to do, parties to attend, presents to wrap and plenty of cooking and eating to get through!

If you’re worried your pets will feel a little left out while you’re busy preparing for and celebrating Christmas, then visit the SPCA Vet Shop in Plumstead, which has a wide range of doggy treats and toys, guaranteed to keep your dog happy and well-behaved these holidays.

Here are a few more tips for the festive season:-

•Give your dog a new chewy toy on Christmas morning to keep them busy while you’re cooking and entertaining. Pick durable chew toys that will last for longer than the holidays.

•Fill their Christmas stockings with treats such as dry sausage, chews, hooves and biscuits so that you are not tempted to give them tit-bits from the Christmas table that may upset their tummies.

•‘tis the season of giving so remember to spoil your furry friend with something special, such as a new collar and lead, squeaky ball, chewy soft toys or scratch post for cats.

For more great gift ideas visit the SPCA Vet Shop open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm on 021 761 4463 or email them at vetshop@spca-ct.co.za

They will be open throughout the Festive Season at the usual opening times and are only closed on the following days:-

Saturday, 24 December 2011
Monday, 26 December 2011
Tuesday, 27 December 2011
