Died Dec. 1 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Md. of wounds suffered Oct. 28 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit at Combat Outpost Keating Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron 4th Cavalry Regiment 3rd Brigade Combat Team 1st Infantry Division Fort Hood Texas.  Officer wounded in Afghanistan dies  The Associated Press  FORT HOOD Texas — The Pentagon says a 31-year-old Army officer from Fort Hood has  Died of wounds suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his unit in Afghanistan.  The Defense Department statement says Capt. Robert J. Yllescas of Lincoln Neb.  Died Monday at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Md.  Yllescas’ legs were mangled and he suffered head trauma Oct. 28 when an improvised explosive device detonated near him. His legs were later amputated.  On a family blog Monday Yllescas’ wife Dena wrote that the results of a test were “devastating” so the family decided to let him go.  Yllescas was assigned to the 6th Squadron 4th Cavalry Regiment 3rd Brigade Combat Team 1st Infantry Division at Fort Hood. He had been commanding a cavalry troop when he was wounded.    Funeral set for Army captain from Nebraska  The Associated Press  OSCEOLA Neb. — Services have been set for a Nebraska native who  Died of wounds suffered in Afghanistan.  A funeral is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Osceola City Auditorium for U.S. Army Capt. Rob Yllescas.  Lt. Col. Bob Vrana of the Nebraska National Guard says a graveside ceremony will follow at Osceola Cemetery.  The 31-year-old Yllescas  Died Monday at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Md. of wounds suffered on Oct. 28. An improvised bomb detonated near him in Afghanistan.  Yllescas and his wife Dena have two daughters and met in Osceola.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
