UNICEF has distributed over 1 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets to help prevent this disease. The country’s children are threatened by poverty and by a conflict affecting one third of the population. Preventable diseases are the biggest killers of children; survivors face food shortages, gender-based violence and forced recruitment into armed groups.
