Fort Lewis soldier dies in Iraq of non-combat injury  The Associated Press  FORT LEWIS Wash. — Army officials say a soldier from Fort Lewis has  Died of a non-combat injury in Iraq.  According to a Pentagon news release 36-year-old Sgt. 1st Class David A. Cooper Jr. of State College Pa.  Died Sept. 5 in Baghdad.  The release gives no details but says the circumstances of the death are under investigation.  A statement issued from Fort Lewis says Cooper entered military service on June 25 1988. He was assigned to Korea Fort Drum N.Y. and Fort Knox Ky. before coming to the post south of Tacoma.  At the time of his death he was a platoon sergeant in the 2nd Battalion 23rd Infantry Regiment 4th Brigade 2nd Infantry Division. Operation Iraqi Freedom
