Anna Hazare supporter IIT student refuses to accept degree from PM
The IIT student has been urging his batchmates to join the protest.
Supporting the cause of Anna Hazare-led civil society for a stronger Lokpal Bill, a final year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has refused to accept his degree from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
 
The student has announced that he would not accept the degree from the prime minister, who is scheduled to attend the graduation ceremony being held on Monday as the chief guest. The student has been urging his batchmates to join the protest.
 
The situation could become embarrassing for the prime minister if more students join in the protest. itoday

IIT Kharagpur student backs Anna, refuses degree
Kharagpur: Anna Hazare's protest has cast a shadow over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to IIT Kharagpur. One student has refused to accept his degree from Singh while another will wear a Anna cap at the convocation where the Prime Minister is the chief guest.
Shashi Shekhar, a civil engineering student, has decided not to accept his M Tech degree from the Prime Minister as a mark of protest because according to him Singh in not in favour of a strong Lokpal.
"I will not accept my degree from the Prime Minister. I will accept it from someone who supports the Jan Lokpal Bill," says Shashi Shekhar.
Another student and M Tech in Electronics, Chandra Kumar Patel, has chosen to wear a Anna cap instead of the traditional convocation cap when he goes to accept his degree from the Prime Minister.
A group of IIT Kharagpur students are also sitting on fast in support of Hazare.
